'ATV' games are action packed
"ATV Offroad Fury 4," for the PS2, and its mini-version, "ATV Offroad Fury Pro," for the PSP, are both packed with dirt-riddled action and plenty of custom features. With more than 30 vehicles, including MX bikes, buggies and trophy trucks, the variety is impressive. The PS2 version sports a decent mix of closed-circuit tracks plus a new point-to-point "Baja-style" race that pits various vehicles against one another. The design of the tracks is great and keep a player's interest in the action. "Fury 4" also comes with a new story mode, which, according to what your interests are, can be fun or just funny. Don't look for deep plots here. You begin by choosing a male or female character and then take on the role of a down-and-out racer looking to break back into the racing circuit to prove you're the best.
A classic clash over canyon
SURPRISE CANYON - David Bricker first rode up this narrow, lush canyon bordered by desert wilderness just outside Death Valley on a small Honda-90 dirt bike in 1969. A passable gravel road through the verdant canyon up a mountainside in Inyo County was first established in the 1870s as access to the silver-mining town of Panamint City, situated nearly 4,000 feet above the valley floor. Slideshow: Surprise Canyon Today the canyon is at the center of a classic preservation-versus-use conflict, like many that have erupted across the Mojave Desert for the past two decades. Closed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to off-highway vehicles in 2001 as part of a legal settlement with environmentalists, the canyon is the subject of a new suit by recreational off-roaders and people who have bought property in the ghost town and now want road access to their land.

Chalk Up Another ‘Banner Year’ For The Little Yellow Competition ...
20, 2006) – Cobra Motorcycles had a big year in 2006. Not only did the legendary little yellow motorcycles again win nearly every major 50cc competition from Florida to Vegas, but they did so despite the distraction of the entire Cobra factory moving from Ohio to its new home in Michigan – along with developing two new competition production platforms.“Between the move, attending every major mini National MX competition and launching the new Cobra ECX50 ATV and preparing to launch the new CX65 dirt bike, we seemed to be burning the candle at all three ends this year," said an elated Cobra President Sean Hilbert. “Given all the ancillary projects going on – and the fact we were still able to win pretty much every major 50cc title we set out to win this year – 2006 goes down in the record books as one very exciting year."Beginning last March in Texas, Cobra opened the mini motocross National competition season by sweeping the Lake Whitney & Oak Hill Nationals.
New Flat Track Riding School Tailored For Road Racers
Cornerspin, "dirt training for road riding and road racing", is a permanent facility located near the town of Spencer, North Carolina on 40 acres adjacent to Interstate 85. The Cornerspin training facility is located halfway between the metropolitan areas of Atlanta and Washington D.C.. Stevenson, owner and CEO of Cornerspeed and Cornerspin, has been developing the land for over a year to create challenging lay-outs for riders of all abilities. Training for the past two years with former pro flat tracker Michael Dillon (National #20) and former Arclight rider Scott Harwell, Stevenson has developed a curriculum that is designed to specifically relate the dirt techniques to the road and road racing. Says Stevenson, "This is not a flat track school. This is a road race school that is taught in the dirt using flat track and motard techniques to give students a better understanding of bike control and how to apply it to the road." The Cornerspin school has 6 fully prepared mini-bikes (DRZ125, TTR125 and CRF100's) which are provided with instruction.
